ELECTIONS FOR 41ST NATIONAL ASSEMBLY


The elections for 41 National Assembly were held on 5 July 2009 according to a mixed (proportional and majoritarian) system with ballot lists of parties, coalitions and majoritarian candidates, registered in 31 multi-mandate and 31 single-mandate constituencies.

Twenty parties, coalitions and 357 majoritarian candidates took part in the elections.

Six political entities passed the 4 % electoral threshold for participation in the distribution of seats in parliament: GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) Party, Coalition for Bulgaria, Movement for Rights and Freedoms Party, Ataka Party”, The Blue Coalition and Order, Lawfulness and Justice Party.

Two hundred and nine (209) members of parliament were elected according to a proportional system with the ballot lists of political parties and coalitions, registered in multi-mandate constituencies as follows:

Thirty one (31) members of parliament were elected according to a majoritarian system in single - mandate constituencies by simple majority vote.
