Government Hands Its Resignation to the National Assembly

The office of the National Assembly has filed the resignation request of the current Cabinet. The President of the National Assembly, Tsetska Tsacheva, read aloud the letter of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, by which he is asking for the resignation of the Council of Ministers. In the letter he explains  the cabinet will be running until a new government is elected and promises to cooperate in ensuring smooth succession.

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has announced personally his cabinet’s decision to resign at the beginning of the plenary sitting. He has added that his cabinet is not to partake in a caretaker government. The state, in his words, now needs a fresh impetus of credibility.

The first item to be voted on the National Assembly’s agenda  tomorrow will be the resignation.
