The chair of the parliamentary Foreign policy committee and head of the Bulgarian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Dzhema Grozdanova, met with the Minister of Dialogue with Serbia in the government of Kosovo, Mrs Edita Tahiri. Mrs. Tahiri is on a visit to Bulgaria to participate in the second informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the SEECP member countries.

"We expect the contacts between the two countries to intensify", noted the head of the foreign policy committee, Mrs. Dzhema Grozdanova and pointed to the support of Bulgaria for Kosovo’s membership in UNESCO and for the liberalization of the visa regime for the citizens of Kosovo in the European Union.

Mrs. Grozdanova expressed interest in the decision reached in Brussels in 2013 on an agreement, in the frames of the Dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, to create an Association of Serbian municipalities in Kosovo. She asked the guest what were the prospects for the ratification of the bilateral agreement with the Netherlands and the establishment of a special court in Hague.

The Minister of Dialogue with Serbia in the government of Kosovo, Mrs Edita Tahiri thanked the Bulgarian politicians for their help in the process of establishing Kosovo as a state. She expressed hope that this support will continue further in different international organizations in view of the aspirations of Kosovo to join the Euro- Atlantic structures.

Mrs. Edita Tahiri welcomed the establishment of a friendship group Bulgaria-Kosovo at the National Assembly and underscored the latter would help the enhancement of the connections not only between the two parliaments, but also between the two peoples. “We could profit from your experience in affirming the rule of law and the initiation of reforms in the judiciary and the economy”, she said.
